New Version of MAP2PDF for ArcGIS Ships

New Version of MAP2PDF for ArcGIS Ships

Enhanced Capabilities Let Users Create More Robust GeoPDF files to Share
across Enterprises

ATLANTA, GA - August 1, 2006 - TerraGo Technologies, creators of MAP2PDF
and GeoPDF announced today that MAP2PDF for ArcGIS version 3.0 is now
available, giving customers many more options and features for creating,
sharing and exchanging mapping data. Major enhancements include support
for multiple, transparent raster and vector layers, compatibility with
third party products such as DS Mapbook and PLTS, support for ArcGIS
Server, and Visual Basic access to MAP2PDF functionality. Users may now
create multiple GeoPDFs in batch mode with grouped layers exactly as
represented in ArcMAP.

Other Version 3.0 improvements include the saving of MAP2PDF settings with
the MXD, the placement of annotations as separate layers, map grid and map
surround support as separate layers and support of user-defined datums.

"With this new version we support the complete layering capabilities of
ArcGIS" says Michael Bufkin, TerraGo Technologies' chief technology
officer. "GeoPDFs created with Version 3.0 have the same look, feel and
behavior as that of the ArcMAP MXD."

"MAP2PDF integrates seamlessly into my typical workflow, is perfectly
intuitive to use, and extends powerful aspects of GIS functionality to even
the most lay users," says David Lewis, GIS Analyst, Southern Environmental
Law Center. "I am amazed by the software's ability to cram data-rich
layers with thousands of records into a PDF document with a small enough
file size that it can easily be emailed, all while maintaining high quality
graphical resolution and georeferencing. This product is essential for any
individual or organization that hopes to distribute GIS products over the
web or via email, to customers, clients, constituents, or colleagues."

All of the new features of Version 3.0 are integrated with the free GeoPDF
toolbar where users can access many mapping functions including display of
coordinates, measurement of distances and areas, markup, commenting, GPS
tracking and interaction with Google Maps, utilizing Adobe Acrobat or
Reader. Users also have the ability to export georegistered markups and
comments from the GeoPDF toolbar into GIS applications as .shp files, so
all their notes, graphics and annotations can be integrated back into the
master geospatial data.

"ESRI customers including major government agencies, large utilities and
other business users have already experienced the benefit of sharing
geospatial data across the enterprise so other users can work with
georegistered mapping information in connected or disconnected modes," says
James Davis, TerraGo Technologies CEO. "This latest release of MAP2PDF for
ArcGIS improves upon our successes, while giving our customers significant
new features that allow them to create even more valuable geospatial
assets."

All TerraGo products are available for a 30 day evaluation period where
users can produce complete GeoPDFs with no watermarks and distribute them
to anyone for evaluation and feedback.

Regulate Printer Usage with O&K Print Watch

Version 4.00 allows users to specify printing "budgets" for users, groups and printers and limit document printing by pages, cost or keywords used in the name of a document

O&K Software today announces the release of O&K Print Watch 4.00. Combing the features of a network print spooler and a print job register, this program lets users control print jobs, paper usage and collect statistics from the print servers. The latter is helpful in creating a company-wide chargeback plan that ensures that all users pay their fair share of the printing budget.

Unlike the standard print manager in Windows, O&K Print Watch correctly counts the number of printed pages and offers an excellent mechanism to set limits on printer usage. O&K Print Watch creates a wide array of reports, which are available for viewing even from a web browser. These features give users full control over any printer in a home or corporate network.

What's New in Version 4.00?
New to version 4.00 is a radically improved mechanism that enables users to set limits on printer usage and an ability to view printed jobs as images. Users will also discover an ability to organize users into groups and set up printing rules for each group individually.

Now you can specify a printing "budget" by setting limits on the number of pages that can be printed or the total cost of a printed document. Let's say, for example, your employees are printing too many images on an expensive laser printer. You can set up a rule to limit printing based on the number of pages in a document. Or, you can specify keywords and no document with these keywords in its name will ever be printed. If you would like to know what was in the document named "Doc1.doc", you can select the option that saves a print job as an image and open an image of a printed document in a built-in image viewer.

Pricing and Availability
O&K Print Watch 4.00 runs under Windows NT4/2000/XP/Server 2003. The company offers a flexible licensing policy based on the number of printers that can be monitored by the program (please, refer to http://www.prnwatch.com/registration.html). Discounts are available to educational institutions. Additional information on O&K Print Watch, as well as its free 15-day evaluation version is available from www.prnwatch.com.

SEMANTIC WEB IN HEALTH CARE AND THE LIFE SCIENCES

1st CALL FOR PAPERS

FIRST INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON THE SEMANTIC WEB IN HEALTH CARE AND
THE LIFE SCIENCES

held in conjunction with

THE FIFTH INTERNATIONAL SEMANTIC WEB CONFERENCE (ISWC) 2006, ATHENS, GA

under the auspices of the W3C HCLSIG.

Life Science Research and Health Care are areas undergoing phenomenal
growth, holding much promise for our future as long as we can manage
and apply the new knowledge gained without driving up costs. Key to
their success is the implementation of new informatics models that
will unite many forms of biological and medical information across
all institutions, through the encoding of meaning into the data and
their interpretations. By focusing on the semantics of information,
researchers will have more access to the knowledge required to
effectively find cures to diseases, while doctors will have better
tools for individualized clinical management of patients.

The W3C Semantic Web Health Care and Life Sciences Interest Group
(HCLSIG) http://www.w3.org/2001/sw/hcls/ was chartered in December
of 2005 to develop and support the use of Semantic Web technologies
and practices to improve collaboration, research, development and the
adoption of innovation in Health Care and the Life Sciences. In
January of 2006, HCLSIG hosted its first face-to-face meeting http://
www.w3.org/2001/sw/hcls/f2f-2006/f2f-summary.html to define a set of
activities focused on reducing the barriers to adoption. As a part of
this process, we are organizing the first international workshop on
the Semantic Web in Health Care and the Life Sciences in conjunction
with ISWC 2006.

Aims:
Our aims for this workshop are threefold. First, we expect the
workshop to provide a current snapshot of the application of Semantic
Web technologies’ development trajectory. Secondly, to provide an
opportunity to showcase health care and the life sciences as an
aspect of the Semantic Web to a wider audience within the Semantic
Web community and to interested external parties. Thirdly, to provide
a forum for discussion that will facilitate forward planning of both
the W3C HCLSIG and more generally the research and development agenda
of the wider community.

Audience:
The workshop encourages participation from both academia and industry
with an emphasis on the theoretical and practical aspects of applying
Semantic Web technologies to the challenges of Health Care and the
Life Sciences. We look forward to industry to present its
requirements and use cases, and academic and industrial researchers
to present their ideas and solutions. We encourage participation from:

• Health Care, Clinical, and Life Science Consortia
• Research Institutes and Centers
• Pharmaceuticals and Biotechnology Companies
• IT Solution Vendors
• Government Agencies

We invite presentation proposals that focus on the application of the
Semantic Web to the life sciences and/or health care. The emphasis of
the presentation should be on real world implementations that
highlight the value added by utilizing a Semantic Web based
implementation.

Topics of Interest:

• Core vocabularies and ontologies to support cross-community data
integration and collaborative efforts
• Tools for transforming clinical and life science data into RDF
and OWL formats
• Guidelines and Best Practices for Resource Identification to
support integrity and version control
• Better integration of Scientific Publication with people, data,
software, publications, and clinical trials
• Knowledge ecosystems and knowledge lifecycle
• Ontologies in life sciences: knowledge representation, ontology
creation, maintenance and evaluation in health care and the life
sciences.
