Da Vinci Encryption

Open S.r.l announces Da Vinci Encryption Software

Computer Data Security Software Suite Released April 15, 2006

Alessandria, ITALY, April 15, 2006 In commemoration of the 554th anniversary of the birth of the Renaissance genius Leonardo Da Vinci, Open S.r.l announces version 1.00 of its innovative Da Vinci Encryption System. Incorporating a number of fresh ideas, Da Vinci provides computer users an extremely cost-effective system to protect files from unauthorized access.

Recalling the rudimentary handwriting encryption method Leonardo routinely used to provide a measure of protection from unwanted scrutiny, the new Da Vinci system uses the latest security technology to offer safety Leonardo could only dream of. Incorporating the widely-accepted and virtually unbreakable 256 bit AES encryption technology, Da Vinci keeps data and text files safe from both curious and malicious intruders.

Da Vinci provides a data encryption solution that is easy to implement into the normal work schedule of computer users, greatly increasing its value in providing comprehensive protection. Encrypted logical disks created by Da Vinci function as normal disks when open, but when closed require a password for access. The user can also implement an auto-closing function which prevents access when the computer is unused for a selected period. Self-decrypting files can be created to send to non-Da Vinci system users. Even clipboard contents can be encrypted on-the-fly for safe transfer. A special data-destruction password can also be set up for use in cases of forced password entry. Da Vinci is network-compatible and is equally useful for home and corporate use. It is available on a 21-day trial basis, allowing its value to be demonstrated before purchase.

About Open S.r.l
Open S.r.I was founded in 2003 by a small group of data professionals, in the knowledge that data security is a significant and growing concern and convinced that the greatest need is for security solutions that are both strong and easy to apply. Staff with skills in this arena includes Sergiy Gladkyy, who brings 10 years of experience in the design and implementation of security solutions for business use.

Windows Vista Search is Already Here in VistaGlance

Windows Vista Search is Already Here in VistaGlance

Qwerty Studios has released VistaGlance, a free program for instant name-based and tag-based file search and access. VistaGlance adds into today's Windows the search features which were announced to be added into Windows Vista at the end of this year and are already known as Spotlight in MacOS X Tiger. Now Windows users will gain instant access to files and programs by their names, attributes, and keywords without ever having to think about their location.

At the first start VistaGlance quickly indexes your hard drive(s). After your drives are indexed, you are ready to start searching for files. The search itself can be performed with Deskbar (a VistaGlance panel with a search input box in the taskbar), Explorer's toolbar (a VistaGlance panel with a search input box in Explorer's toolbar) or Floating Bar (it can be opened with a hot key). Just input your query and press Enter. You will receive the results immediately. With Deskbar you search in all indexed folders and drives while with Explorer's toolbar you search only in currently opened folder and its subfolders. After the search is completed the Results window appears. From this window you can run found programs, open documents, and perform a lot of other operations as well.

Suppose, you want to open some document. Of course, you know its name or at least a part of its name, or something about its category or keywords. You simply type this little piece of information you know about this file or program (it is seldom more than several letters - and it takes less than a second to enter it) into a small field in your taskbar or into Explorer's toolbar and press Enter. You may even not have a slightest idea where this file is located. It is up to your computer to figure it out. Less than in a second you get exactly what you were looking for. Even if there are thousands of files with similar names, you will always find exactly what you need.

The core parts of VistaGlance are the powerful file indexing engine and the heuristic module based on fuzzy logic. Unlike other similar solutions, VistaGlance indexes average-capacity hard disk in several minutes. It needs to index your hard disk only once. After that, VistaGlance monitors and reflects all changes in your file system instantly. File indexing engine also works with removable media like USB-drives, CDs and DVDs, etc. The search itself commonly takes less then one second even on a large hard disk. The main task of heuristic module is to select the most appropriate files and take them at the top of the Results List. VistaGlance calculates the overall relevance of each result depending on the string relevance, date and time of last access, usage frequency of this very file and files of this type, and many secondary parameters. Consequently, you will find the needed file within first ten results in the most of queries.

Here are the main VistaGlance features:

- Quickly find the files you need as soon as you can think of their names or attributes
- Use Deskbar, Explorer's toolbar or Floating Bar query fields for fast access
- Receive any file you queried less than in a second after you hit Enter
- Quickly show and hide VistaGlance Deskbar with a single click on the system tray icon
- Search for all file types or pictures, videos, music and office documents only or use custom filters
- Obtain file details, cut, copy, delete, drag&drop found files
- Add your own keywords to files using handy Explorer context menu extension

Here is what Alex Udodov, the leader of Qwerty Studios beta-testing group, says about the program: "It is so natural to access files and programs by their names and keywords without even thinking about their location. Present-day operating systems make people ask "Where?" rather than "What?" when we want to open or run a particular file. However, file system or Start menu is not like your street or home town - there are much fewer reference points. One folder is very similar to other folders; one submenu is like many other submenus. There are no differing details that human's eye can catch and memory can keep. It is not surprising that even people who have been working with a computer for many years can't remember, where they've placed the file they've just downloaded or where they saved a very important document yesterday or where some program is installed. Standard search techniques can do nothing with it. They are annoyingly slow and just perform a silly search while we need a clever tool to instantly access files we need. VistaGlance is the kind of tool we need."

VistaGlance is available for Windows 98/NT/Me/2000/XP/2003 free of charge. VistaGlance Pro with additional features is also available for $29.95.

AMUST Software announces the release of AMUST 1-Defender 2.0

AMUST Software announces the release of AMUST 1-Defender 2.0

Free security utility offers the first line of defense against spyware, keyloggers, rootkits, viruses and other malware.

Saint-Petersburg, Russia, April 13, 2006 -- AMUST Software today announced the release of AMUST 1-Defender 2.0, a free security utility that offers the first line of defense against malicious web sites and rogue emails which target user computers with spyware, keyloggers, rootkits, viruses and other malware.

AMUST 1-Defender 2.0 is an evolution of AMUST eCondom for Microsoft Internet Explorer. Due to numerous user feedbacks, who liked the product but hesitated about the name, especially in the enterprise environment, the name of the product was changed.

Version 2.0 extends the functionality to support Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express and Windows Messenger. In addition it offers some user interface improvements.

1-Defender reduces and eliminates the risks by allowing users to work with Internet Explorer, Microsoft Outlook and Windows Messenger in SafeInternet mode.

SafeInternet Mode protects user PC from malicious software by employing Least Privileged User Account (LUA) that does not reduce Windows usability and flexibility, and does not downgrade users' Internet experience while making Internet experience safer and much more secure.

AMUST 1-DefenderT 2.0 is designed to protect a Windows XP user from the latest, not yet patched vulnerabilities in Microsoft Internet Explorer as well as not yet discovered viruses. AMUST 1-DefenderT 2.0 is not a replacement for anti-spyware, anti-virus or personal firewall but rather provides the first level of defense.

"Most Windows XP users employ all powerful Admin account for everyday use, and most of them are not even aware about this fact. Any malicious code running under Admin account also becomes all powerful, and can track user behavior, steal personal information or even take over a computer." said Ratmir Timashev, AMUST Software president and CEO. "Using 1-Defender will dramatically reduce and eliminate the risks from malware because it limits Internet Explorer and Outlook with "User" privileges without reducing user experience".

Microsoft is planning to introduce a new feature called Internet Explorer "Protected Mode" in the next version of Windows - Windows Vista. In addition, Windows Vista will run most applications in a Least Privileged User Account by default to reduce security risks. 1-DefenderT 2.0 offers users the same SafeInternet mode functionality for Windows XP today!

The product is free, and intended for home and business users.

Major Painkiller

WTware PRO v.4.2.1 - Major Painkiller for Any System Administrator!

WTware PRO 4.2.1 is designed to let system administrators organize dedicated thin clients, old and new PCs into a corporate network, which is managed centrally from the terminal server. This reduces costs and efforts spent on hardware upgrades, administration and data security.

WTware today announces the release of version 4.2.1 of WTware PRO. This is a fully-fledged solution for the centralized deployment, configuration, and management of the so-called "thin clients," also known as Windows-based terminals, and NetPCs. A "thin client" is a computer that has no hard drives and fans. As distinct from traditional PCs, the so-called "fat clients," "thin clients" require a minimum processing power and rely on their terminal server to operate. Users work behind "thin clients" in much the same way as they would behind a traditional computer, but their application, for instance Microsoft Word, is executed on the server. A "thin client" may be any old computer converted to a "thin client," or a new dedicated "thin client."

Why Install WTware PRO?
"Thin client computing offers many benefits," says Andrey Kovalev, CEO of WTware. "A thin client is cheaper to buy and has an extended lifespan - on average six years instead of three for desktop PCs. Besides, you can extend the life of your old desktop PC by converting it to a thin client. And, of course, you won't have to fork out money to upgrade each computer for more resource-demanding software. Instead, you spend it only on the upgrade of the terminal server. Another benefit is a single point of administration, which lets you perform software upgrades, install new applications and virus updates solely on the terminal server without visiting each machine individually. This reduces administration costs and maintenance time. On top of all this is safety. Because all data is stored on the server and internet access can be restricted, your data is safe from virus attacks, data theft, and accidental loss due to hardware malfunction."

WTware PRO at a Glance
WTware gives system administrators all the tools needed to create a "thin client," including OS, a wide array of drivers for graphic cards, network services, and a Remote Desktop Protocol Client. It is easy to setup and configure and doesn't require any knowledge in network boot technologies. Using WTware, you can use any available "thin client" or convert old and new PCs to "thin clients" and manage them all from the terminal server through one consistent and open interface. Available connection types include Microsoft terminal services (RDP), and Windows XP with Winconnect or a similar add-on using RDP. WTware can be booted from a network (diskless) using Etherboot/PXE or from a local floppy, CD disk, hard disk drive, USB storage, or an IDE-flash disk, DOC DiskOnChip and DOM DiskOnModule. WTware supports client-side storage (floppy, hard disk drives, CDs and USB), printers, and bar code readers.

WTware PRO Pricing and Availability
WTware PRO 4.2.1 is compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000 Sever/2003 Server/XP and costs $20 (USD) for one terminal. License is bound to the terminal hardware network card address (MAC-address). To get 2 FREE testing licenses on WTware PRO, please, visit http://wtware.com/download.html. Discounts for volume buyers are available. Additional information on WTware PRO, a complete set of technical documentation, a first steps guide, as well as its free evaluation copy is available from http://wtware.com.

Life Beats in Your Notebook

Find Out How Much Life Beats in Your Notebook

HDDlife for Notebooks is a monitor of general state and health for notebook hard drives. It features exclusive monitoring technologies and understands the specifics of portable hardware. The program informs the user of pending problems in hard drive work and suggests a solution.

The release of HDDlife for Notebooks is announced today in the headquarters of BinarySense Ltd. For many users it comes as a relief knowing that now HDDlife, one of the best hard drive monitoring utilities on the market, extends its protection to their notebooks too. When HDDlife watches over a system, users can be sure that no overheating or drop in productivity escape their attention. The program checks hard drive health, temperature and evaluates performance at user-set intervals. The indicators of health status, performance and temperature manifest themselves in the system tray. In the main program window users can also find more specific information on their hard drive, such as overall work time and partition structure. HDDlife will keep you informed about the state of you portable hardware at all times.

"Accurate and informative indicators are at the heart of efficient monitoring," says Alexander Ivanov, CEO of BinarySense Ltd. "Users should know at a glance when their hard drive malfunctions to have time for backup and replacement. What is the use of an indicator, if the user can make neither head nor tail of it? Experience and studies made us limit hard drive indicators to just three key ones: health status, performance, and temperature. We applied a unique technology of instant drive checkup which we called JustNow™. It shows the state of their drive as a per cent to its original state immediately after the start of the program. To make indicators informative yet unobtrusive, HDDlife employs coloured diagrams and XP-style shields. Another proprietary technology, AnywhereView ™, makes sure that the small diagram shows over the hard drive icon in every application across the user system. Both this technologies ensure accurate and clear indication of the drive's current state."

Besides indicating the drive's current state, the program suggests actions that can help solve the problem of drive performance. In severe cases it can advice immediate backup and drive replacement. The program can switch the system to a standby or hibernation mode when the drive overheats. The feature comes in handy when the system works autonomously. When the system is under remote supervision, HDDlife can send a network notification or an e-mail with a report on disk's current status. The program will work in the background, run regular checkups and send the reports to a remote computer. HDDlife is a proactive solution that prolongs the life of you hard drive and protects your valuable data against loss.
